Who We Are
"Confession of a Health Reform Bill"The founder Dr William M Ferro (Bill) started practicing in Health Clubs in 2003. Within the first year he opened a second location. In 2005 he founded ProActive Performance Centers and opened his third location. By the end of 2007 ProActive Performance Centers has grown to over thirty locations. Along the way Dr Ferro noticed that many of health clubs were not running an efficient personal training program, and the program lacked medical supervision and nutritional support. In 2007 he launched Sweat Personal Training which operates the personal training programs in eight of the locations. The industry has taken notice of this incredible combination that adds a true health, fitness and wellness component to the health club's amenities. What's more is it increases member results, retention, referrals and of course revenue. The combination of Doctors and Personal Trainers working together is a unique identifying addition to any health club. It creates a stronger relationship between members and health and fitness providers. This is a winning approach to education and promotion of healthy products and services for every health club member. A true health care reform. The focus is actually on care not insurance reform or coverage. This model allows Americans to ensure their well being and the only true way to secure longevity and financial stability as we age.
Our doctors, trainers, therapists and members unite in their quest for better health, and it is cemented by how many days a week they are able to engage each other. Most providers interact with their doctor once or twice a year, our providers average once per week.
Another part of our service is to provide health and fitness challenges for corporations and drive new members into the club who then are enrolled in our programs. We use a system that engages the corporations and employees to participate in a true health, fitness and wellness program that identifies problems, initiates life style changes both physically and mentally. Our reporting system with the use of standard blood tests, measurements and a questionnaire can accurately determine the health savings and the corporate return on investment. Each employee is given a robust report that predicts their risks of heart disease, diabetes, cancer and stroke. It will predict their five year outlook on medical costs before the program and after. In just eight weeks we can drop those predicted costs tenfold.
Insurance companies are taking notice of our services as well. This is a pay for performance model that will allow health insurance companies get a stronger picture of a subscriber's life style and obtain direct feedback from subscriber's and accurate reporting from our practitioners. This database of individuals will be able to be set against non Proactive members and we will see an increased health status and associated savings. Our goal is to have insurance carriers of non-self funded companies subsidize part of our program for employees.
We continue to find ways to improve our delivery system of health fitness and wellness and believe that ProActive Performance Centers is the next genesis in this process. These centers can provide any of the modules ala carte to Health Clubs, Corporations, Insurance Companies and Consumers. Here is a brief description of each module.

Market Size
In the next 10 years, combining the health care industry with the wellness industry (integrative medicine) will represent approximately $2.5 trillion, a significant amount of the U.S. economy. The fitness industry infrastructure that now exists is perfectly positioned to become the “delivery arm” of the medical/fitness movement. As of January, 2007 there are 29,357 fitness facilities in the Unites States, representing 53-million active members and $18-billion in industry revenues. Over half of this active membership is between 35-65 years old (28 million). It is expected that within the next 5-years, over 70% of the active fitness members will be between 40-70 years old. The aging of the baby-boomer population, will cause a corresponding aging of the fitness member base as well. The current 53-million active members in the fitness industry are also connected to over 80-million friend and family members.
Proactive Performance Centers are designed to create an overall or win win for our society. The chances are that the past couple of generations are going to be living to 100 years old.
Our Economy: Plagued with a failing health care and retirement system Americans will be faced with higher medical costs and a need to have more saved for retirement. Two ways to accomplish that are to seek a healthy living style which will reduce costs and add to savings. Diet and Exercise alone are the leading way to treat and prevent our most common diseases and conditions that drag down our system.
Corporations: Forced by local governments to not base premiums on current health status employees have no immediate financial incentive to stay healthy. Falsely we believe there is a safety net of care provided by the government. 65% of all American corporations are self-funded and of course have a interest in keeping their employees healthy. The problem is until now the systems in place just identify the sick and look for ways to decrease expenses and mange their care. The other problem is getting employees to participate in a program with no incentive.
Insurance Companies: They looking for ways to manage care and to reduce costs can result in decreasing research, decreasing health care provider compensation and less patient attention. The insurance companies are disconnected to the corporations and the employees.
Health Clubs: Health clubs are opening at break neck speeds yet they still only penetrate 15% of the market. Until Government, Corporation, Insurance Companies, Health Care Providers and Health Clubs find ways to come together and offer a program that is low cost, incentive based, with an objective report demonstrating a significant return on investment, we will continue to see more corporations closing or going over sees, insurance companies failing, our health status declining and the collapse of our great democracy.
The answer: As shift in resources and capital that will result in a stronger healthier more productive American. The money spent on expensive premiums will be shifted to include incentives to exercise. Educating employees on healthy cooking that also is cost effective. Divert the money spent on double shot, two whip mocha lattes to green tea bag and an apple. Instead of surfing the net or going to the movies try a 40 and over kick ball game at your local park and put that money to use to have a personal trainer twice a month.
The answer is usually simple the formula is what we can provide to increase the vitality of our people, jumpstart our workplace, increase the corporate bottom line and be a global leader mentally, physically and financially. We do that through peer prodded health and social networking that will be initiated in the corporate work place and will spill into health clubs, parks, and lecture halls around the country.
